In the Latin language, there is no straight up word for 'Rat'. There is only a phrase, betraying our close relationship to these often unwanted animals. 'Mures inclusi essent' means 'inside the walls', which is an unsettling place to be for any living thing, especially if you are the owner of said walls.
Yet, these animals are fascinating, resourceful and creative in their approach to life, even if terrifying to some.
